Noticeboard

Whilst we’ve received information that all 50-64 year olds may be eligible for a free flu vaccination as part of plans to protect more people against seasonal flu, these free vaccinations will be subject to vaccine delivery later in the year.

This allows us (GP’s and community pharmacists) to focus on those who are in an at risk group, such as pregnant women and people with long term health conditions. They will be given priority and offered the vaccine first; if you are in this category you will be contacted.

If you are aged 50-64 and not in one of the at risk categories you will be made aware in the coming months if you will be able to attend for vaccination. If the programme is extended this is likely to be November or December.

Sharing Information

There are a number of data sharing initiatives currently being introduced:

Summary Care Record

A Summary Care Record is an electronic record which contains information about the medicines you take, allergies you suffer from and any bad reactions to medicines you have had. Having this information stored in one place makes it easier for healthcare staff to treat you in an emergency, or when your GP practice is closed.

You have a choice. You can choose not to have a Summary Care Record: You need to let your GP practice know by filling in and returning the opt-out form that was sent to you. Further information and the opt out form is also available at http://www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk/.

Alternatively you can click on the following link for an   Opt out form

Connecting Care

Your Connecting Care Record will contain more detailed information, such as diagnoses, medications and appointments, to support your treatment and care at services in your area. This record will only be used to support your care locally. It will ensure that the people caring for you have enough information to treat you safely and to coordinate your care.

You have a choice . If you do not want a ConnectingCare Record then visit www.bristolccg.nhs.uk for a form or call the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 073 0907 or 0117 947 4477.  Alternatively you can click on the following link for an   Opt out form

Care.data

Confidential information from your medical records can be used by the NHS to improve the services offered so we can provide the best possible care for everyone. This information along with your postcode and NHS number but not your name, are sent to a secure system where it can be linked with other health information. This allows those planning NHS services or carrying out medical research to use information from different parts of the NHS in a way which does not identify you.

You have a choice . If you have any concerns or wish to prevent this from happening, please ask at reception for a copy of the leaflet “How information about you helps us to provide better care”. More information can also be found here Care.data leaflet Alternatively you can click on the following link for an   Opt out form
